I design things people want to look at,
and build things people actually use.

Hi, I'm Andrew

I design for clarity: the right thing, seen first.

I'm a graphic and UX/UI designer who cares most about visual hierarchy: making sure people find what they need without having to think about it. Whether it's a logo, a website or a tool someone uses during a busy shift, I want the important thing to be obvious and everything else to stay out of the way.

I studied graphic design and UX/UI at Bryan University (2025). At BisectHosting I work as a support agent, and I take every chance I get to improve our graphics and web design. I created our training system and redesigned the internal wiki, edited the company holiday videos, and made graphics for internal departments. I sketch it, design it, build it, then teach people how to use it.

  • 2credentials: AAS Graphic Design + UX/UI Certificate
  • 100+games in a knowledge base I built
  • 3game launches trained for in one October week

Fun fact: I learned visual hierarchy from game HUDs long before school. Health, ammo and objective, all readable in half a second.

Staff Portal & Knowledge Base

BisectHosting · Internal wiki redesign

Years of guides and policies were spread across old wiki pages, and support agents couldn't find answers while a ticket was waiting. I reorganized everything into one portal with six clear areas, one search box, and a game knowledge base you can scan in seconds.

Role
Information architecture, UI design, build on MediaWiki
Scale
100+ games · 6 areas · 1 search
Result
Used by 100% of support staff, and 80% come back mid-ticket for details. "This is what the company was missing." — a coworker

Training that plays like a game

BisectHosting · Training & onboarding platform

Support staff need to learn every game we host before customers start asking about it. I built a training hub where each module goes from briefing, to quiz, to support roleplay. XP, levels and achievements reward perfect scores and finished modules, not just clicking through.

Systems
Per-user progress, scoring with a 70% pass mark, retakes, assignments, leaderboard
Reuse
One module template, reused for every launch
Result
Adopted company-wide, with a 90% completion rate

Hytale launch briefing

BisectHosting · 25-minute field briefing, live by Oct 12, 2026

I laid it out like a magazine, not a policy doc: six chapters with game art, pull quotes and a "what to tell customers" box in every chapter. It ends with ten real-ticket questions and a four-ticket simulated support queue. I write every game briefing at BisectHosting, and the format is now the company standard.

100%completion company-wide

Every support agent finished the briefing before launch, so the whole team went into launch week with the same baseline.

60%less back-and-forth on tickets

Hytale tickets went from about six replies to two or three. Agents answered right the first time, so customers got help faster.

Joystick Junction: a retro game store app, revisited

UXI-120 · Sole designer · Figma, Illustrator, InDesign

A used-game store wanted people to see what's in stock and trade in old games without driving over. I took it from a storyboard to a tested, high-fidelity prototype, and designed the brand along the way.

  1. Storyboard: a user finds old games, checks trade-in value online, and trades them in1 · StoryboardJoe, 42, has a box of old games and wants to know what they're worth.
  2. Sitemap2 · SitemapEight top-level pages, built around New Releases, Pre-Owned and Trade-In.
  3. Low-fidelity wireframes3 · WireframesLow-fi layouts to test structure before any color.
  4. Brand identity board4 · BrandAn arcade-cabinet logo, a pixel display face and an NES-era palette.

What testing taught me → what I changed
  • Testers slowed down at the menu. The redesign has a five-tab bar with clear labels and an active state, and Trade-In finally gets its own tab.
  • The flow wasn't intuitive. Trade-In is now a 3-step flow with progress and Back / Next buttons, built around Joe's storyboard.
  • Some colors were hard to read. Navy text on cream passes contrast checks, and red and yellow are kept for actions.
  • Alignment was off. Everything now sits on one 16px grid with a single card style.

The original was built in a day for class. A year later I went back and fixed what my testers found, keeping the same palette, logo and photos.

Dance Joy Studios

Brand mark for a dance studio · Illustrator

The mark is a single looping knot, like one line of footwork that never lifts off the floor. I explored four arrangements of the knot and the script wordmark, then picked the one that still reads as a small social media avatar.

A three-book cover series

Vector illustration · Illustrator · print-ready CMYK

A trilogy that has to look like a set on the shelf: one lone silhouette, then a pair, then a family. Each book gets its own color so the series reads left to right, like chapters.

WorldFest: from wireframe to live site

UXI-135 · Hand-coded, five pages

A music festival site I wireframed and then built by hand, with a JavaScript countdown that ticks down to opening day every second. In 2026 I rebuilt it from that same wireframe: same section order, banner art, band names and countdown, now with a real type system, a responsive layout, a lineup grid and ticket tiers.

// counts down to opening day

Staff Hub: a private platform, built from the inside

Designing & improving BisectHosting's systems · Nuxt · Laravel · MySQL · Docker

Running the company wiki taught me what staff need and where the off-the-shelf tools get in the way. Now I'm designing and improving their systems as a private platform, where training, the knowledge base and content drafting live in one place. Staff can learn, write drafts, send them for review and publish, with role-based permissions and full revision history. It runs in containers on a private server behind Cloudflare Access, so only staff can reach it.

Four years of holiday videos

BisectHosting's yearly holiday video · Premiere Pro · DaVinci Resolve · Illustrator

Every December, BisectHosting posts a thank-you video filmed inside a community Minecraft build. I started in 2022 by creating clips for the video. Since 2023 I've edited the full video, and for 2024 and 2025 I also designed the "Happy Holidays" logo: chunky blocky letters with a snowy top edge so they look like they belong in the world behind them.
